Notice the open front door on this 65 degree day!
Did the downstairs hallway.
The windows and floor trim in the front room.
As well as the pipes.
2 new switches in the livingroom, replacing old dimmer switches.
Rewired this wall, putting in a new wire for the ceiling light as well as for the exterior light, then made sure that everything worked and installed the switches and outlets and stapled in the insulation.
The new outside light - wokring!
Took some of the lined paneling and made covers to go over the old green louvers.
This one in particular had no louvers left so I needed to create a framework inside to put the paneling to.
Then I caulked up the edges, replaced some broken hinges, threw some paint on there and it came out pretty nice. I plan to paint the paneling a different color than the edges - it wont all be white like that.
Bought a new chrome drain for the tub and then realized that the solvents we plan to use to take the paint off might harm it so I should clean it first and spent some time cleaning it, but got exhausted and stopped.
Spent nearly an entire morning removing all the cement from this area of the kitchen floor.
Found a large cabinet at Habitat for $63 which was the same size as the closet we needed to find new doors for. So I bought it and removed the face of the cabinet and attached the doors to the wall.
Its even got these great racks inside.
As the outside of the cabinet was pretty beat up, I'm using it for other projects. I used part of it to make a nice floor for this closet. We may also need to make some filler pieces for our cabinets if they do not fit exactly, so I can use some of it there.
Nice enough to work in a t-shirt with the door open.
This is the door trim from the dining to the living room. There used to be at least 1/2cm gap in the trim. Hammered on it for a while then put some long screws in it.
The closet door now opens and closes just fine thanks to...
...new hinges.
I pushed the safety goggles on my head and then went working in the bathroom and saw my hair and thought it deserved a pic.
Fixed a lot of areas that needed spackling on the first floor, including all the edges of the closet doors. Most had been bashed down to the bare metal edges when the vandals kicked in the doors.
Painted a ton more trim.
Basically, this whole room is done and a second coat applied to most of what I did the other day. Also put the first coat on all the trim on the bathroom.
Re-installed the marble shelf using liquid nails and a lot of caulk. At this point I ran around the house and applied about 2 tubes of caulk over the course of an hour or more, hitting every spot that I'd noticed in the past few days.
Fixed the trim on the door. Learned my lesson not to use a nail gun and decided to glue this.
Finished painting and installing all the drawer fronts. Taped off the piece of verticle wood and realized just now that I never painted it. I knew I wanted to paint something else with white gloss.
Caulked all the gaps in the glass block and began to paint it. Just painted one row so I could see how easy the paint comes off with steel wool (the glass is not smooth). It its difficult, then I'll tape the next 5 rows.
And I changed bedrooms to the smaller one so I can heat it easier. With Effie gone I keep the house at 60 deg - fine for working, but cold for sleeping. This room is much warmer naturally, and wams us nicely with the small heater.
