March 7th

Its the morning of March 8th as I write this and we've passed our plumbing test.  Attached are some pics of the device I had to make to test it with.  I spent some time yesterday replacing some pipes for the test and also did some touch up painting in the stairwells (both ceilings in the stairwells had some very damaged and unpainted bits.  

Also met someone to rent out the upper unit - which means that we have someone for both units now.   Just need to get things finished. 

Dad painted all the trim in the dining room and rick edged the ceilings and ran around the house doing touch-ups while I had the brush out. 

March 6th

Awful day today.   Spent the whole day trying to get my pipes set up for a test I shouldn't even have to do.  Had to destroy major parts of a perfectly good working drainage system, just so the inspector could watch a pressure gauge attached to it.  What a waste of a day.  No photos. 

March 5

Dad cleaned and scrubbed both bathrooms, rick painted some edges (yet again) and scraped some paint off windows and cleaned and cleaned and cleaned, then picked up some carpet from the dining room. Met with our property manager to be.   She said that the house may be worth enough where we would consider selling it.   Got some new work boots and Carhartt pants.

March 4

Woke up 8:30.  Scraped/scrubbed tub, realized CitriStrip works best when left for 24 hours, reapplied with plans to strip tomorrow.   Trimed/edged laundry room and laid linouleum (no photos - sorry).  Installed door.  Edged some more in the bathroom, incl ceiling.  Ripped up some carpet, rearranged entire downstairs and cleaned up a lot and took a load to the carpet recyclers.  Ryan built stair trim, rick painted it.  Ryan put up ceiling in basement stairwell.  Moved stuff from upstairs down and vice versa.  This took an amazingly long time.  Swept most rooms.  Real estate agent coming to look tomorrow, so wanted things to look nice.  Replaced all light shades, fan blades, outlet and switch plates.  Not too many photos today.

March 3

I am exhausted.  Woke up at 8:30 - started by 9:30am and finished at 9:30pm.   3 breaks totaling under an hour for the day.  Scraped the tub and tried the citrus remover.  Works, but not as good as the razor, so I'll use a combination of the two.  Then dad and I power-painted.   Ceilings, walls, edgings, mouldings - everything.  Mostly in the living room, but ceilings on all downstairs rooms, edging in all downstairs rooms, walls in the bathroom, walls in the laundryroom.  Just a lot of paint today.  It was a long day for me, but I think dad was here 6-7 hours too.  Fixed some bits inside the closet.  Got a visit from a noisy cat.  Met a new neighbor who came out because he heard the cat.  Got a healthy dinner tonight.  

 

Mar 2

Woke up early and got a good start to the day.  Put up some mini-blinds, installed a new outlet for the stove - assembled the stove and it works.  Flipped the breaker on the other stove and tested and it works too.   Even has these funky lights I didnt see before.  Painted 2 outside doorways, got the kitchen sink working (for a total of 4 working sinks!!), scraped the glass block in the bathroom, trimmed a lot in the bathroom and worked on making it look as nice in person as it did in the photo (the photos don't show the imperfections on the joints).  Finished all the quarter-round in the bathroom, built a bracket for the fan as the new one is 3/4" deeper than the old one and the vent cover didnt fit.  It does now.  Dad edged most of the downstairs today for nearly 4 hours.

March 1

Late start to the day.   Worked in the bathroom most of the day, with a little work on the kitchen.  Photos will tell the story.   Some photos from previous work to show detail.
